If your fingers get tired easily,
or your guitar finger picking is not as fast you would like it to be,
finger exercises may be of great help to you. To be a fast guitar
player, you need good hand and finger strength. It takes much practice
to get to this point, which can often be a turnoff for beginning
guitarist. There are simple exercises that you can do that can build up
strength in your fingers and get your hands in great shape.
Play Basic Chords
Playing
the basic guitar chords is one of the best ways to develop hand and
finger strength. When playing the chords, continue until your hands and
fingers began to get strained and tired. You should then take a break
for five minutes and then continue playing the chords. The more you do
this exercise, the longer you will be able to play without your hands
becoming strained. Over time, this will allow you to play the guitar
faster.

Rubber Ball Squeeze
Squeezing
a rubber ball will help to strengthen not only your fingers and hands,
but also your wrists and forearms. Use a ball that you can comfortably
grip in the palm of your hand and completely squeeze it. Squeeze the
ball for three sets of 10 and then alternate to the other hand. One of
the great things about this exercise is that it is compact and easy to
do almost anywhere.
Finger Weights
Finger
weights are an excellent way to build strength in your fingers. The
concept is much similar to weight training any other area of your body.
To perform this exercise, you will slide the finger weight onto each
finger and wear them while you practice playing the guitar. As with any
other weight-training program, you may experience some soreness and
discomfort when you begin.
Chinese Exercise Balls
Chinese
exercise balls are a great way to exercise the hands to allow you to
play the guitar quickly. Using these balls, which you twirl together
around the palm of your hand, will help you gain better coordination and
fine movement within you hands and fingers. You will be able to enhance
your hand, forearm and finger strength, dexterity and speed.
